Mikyra Austin<\/p><\/div>\n

There is no question that \u201cAdversity Develops Character\u201d!<\/strong>\u00a0 An individual can either seize the moment and take a stance that \u201cNothing will keep me from where I want to go\u201d<\/strong> or they can be CRUSHED<\/strong> by it.\u00a0 There is an old saying that, \u201cIn Every Life a Little Rain Must Fall\u201d!<\/strong>\u00a0 It is TRUE!<\/strong>\u00a0 Rain affects everyone!\u00a0 How one responds to it\u2026 well that is up to the individual.<\/p>\n

It DOES NOT<\/strong> happen, often during a Liberty Tour Track & Field Meet<\/strong>, but for the Patriot\u2019s Invitational<\/strong>, the 1st<\/sup> Leg<\/strong> of the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong>, there was a brief period where RAIN<\/strong> fell.\u00a0 Some thought we should stop the Meet<\/strong>, yet others saw it as an opportunity!\u00a0 For an Athlete<\/strong> to excel during adverse conditions, makes it more likely that they will heighten their Performance <\/strong>when the weather is \u201cPerfect\u201d<\/strong> (Not too Hot<\/strong>, too Cold<\/strong>, Windy<\/strong>, Rainy<\/strong>, or Humid<\/strong>)!<\/p>\n

At the 2022 Patriot\u2019s Invitational<\/strong>, there were Eagles<\/strong> for whom it was nothing to \u201cRise Above It\u201d!<\/strong>\u00a0 One didn\u2019t need to look any further than the 100m Dash<\/strong>, where one of the newest Eagles<\/strong>, Mikyra Austin<\/strong> (Girl\u2019s 13-14) seemed to cut through the Rain<\/strong> just fine to post one of the best times (13.68<\/strong>) in the 100m Dash<\/strong> since 2006<\/strong>.\u00a0 Although the Record<\/strong> is 13.12<\/strong>, it looks quite possible that this Record<\/strong> could fall before the end of the 2022 Track & Field Season<\/strong>.\u00a0 She also took 1st<\/sup> Place<\/strong> in the 200m<\/strong> (28.69<\/strong>) and the Long Jump<\/strong> (3.50m<\/strong>)!<\/p>\n

Jae-cion Boyd<\/p><\/div>\n

Picking right up where he left off in 2021<\/strong>, Jae-cion Boyd<\/strong> (Boy\u2019s 9-10) took 1st<\/sup> Place<\/strong> in the 100m<\/strong> (14.44<\/strong>), the 200m<\/strong> (32.98<\/strong>), and the Long Jump<\/strong> (4.06m<\/strong>).<\/p>\n

Arianna Mills<\/p><\/div>\n

Arianna Mills<\/strong> (Girl\u2019s 11-12) took 1st<\/sup> Place<\/strong> in the High Jump<\/strong> (1.25m<\/strong>), now in a tie for the Record<\/strong> held by Shannon Lenzi<\/strong> (2006<\/strong>), 1st<\/sup> Place<\/strong> in the 80m Hurdles<\/strong> (16.88<\/strong>), and 1st<\/sup> Place<\/strong> in the Javelin<\/strong> with a Country Mills Eagles Record<\/strong> of 20.68m<\/strong>, set by Faith DeMars (2012) who now competes for the Nittany Lions <\/strong>of Penn State University<\/strong>, at 17.64m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

So, it IS True<\/strong> that \u201cA Little Rain Must Fall in Every Life\u201d<\/strong>, these Athletes decided to RISE ABOVE IT!<\/strong> \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n
