\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 For some of you, this Title<\/strong> may seem unusual, or it may give you reason to believe that one (1) benefit of being a Javelin Thrower<\/strong> is that it makes Hunting<\/strong> with a Spear<\/strong> a more viable option for putting Food<\/strong> on the table. All of that is, I suspect, possible, but for Ryan Slingerland<\/strong> it is about Hunting Down<\/strong> the three (3) Javelin Records<\/strong>, a couple of which have stood for more than 15<\/strong> years.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It was just the end of April <\/strong>(2022) that Ryan<\/strong> decided that he would like to learn how to Throw<\/strong> a Javelin<\/strong>.\u00a0 That was only three (3)<\/strong> months ago.\u00a0 At that point, he was as much a \u201cnewbie\u201d<\/strong> as one could possibly be.\u00a0 He was Awkward<\/strong> with the Release<\/strong>, Uncomfortable <\/strong>with any sort of an Approach<\/strong>, and Struggled <\/strong>to hold the Javelin<\/strong> straight.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 As I have preached for years, \u201cPerfect Practice Makes Perfect!\u201d<\/strong>, it is ALWAYS <\/strong>the solution to better Performance!<\/strong>\u00a0 This Young Man<\/strong> couldn\u2019t get enough Practice!<\/strong>\u00a0 He would show up before Practice<\/strong> to work on Javelin Drills<\/strong>, and remain after Practice to get in his Throws<\/strong>.\u00a0 It wasn\u2019t very pretty, at first, and at times was SCARY <\/strong>to watch.\u00a0 But, at the President\u2019s Open<\/strong>, he managed to get enough things right to throw an impressive 33.10m<\/strong> in his first competition as a Javelin Thrower<\/strong>.\u00a0 That was June 12th<\/sup>!<\/strong>\u00a0 Just one (1)<\/strong> month later, at the Liberty Games Track & Field Championships,<\/strong> he threw 37.41m<\/strong>, more than 4m<\/strong> further!<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The Challenge<\/strong> for Athletes <\/strong>is their ability to put all of the pieces of the proverbial puzzle together when it is all on the line.\u00a0 At the National Track & Field Championships<\/strong>, on August 5th<\/sup><\/strong>, Ryan<\/strong> launched a bit of a Missile<\/strong>, sending the Javelin 39.57m<\/strong>, just short of his 40m Goal<\/strong>.\u00a0 That toss moved him into 28th<\/sup><\/strong> in the Nation!<\/strong>\u00a0 With 1st<\/sup> Place<\/strong> being 51m+<\/strong>, Ryan<\/strong> is HUNTING<\/strong> that down for 2023<\/strong>, thinking that GOLD <\/strong>is a Great Color<\/strong> to hang around his neck.\u00a0 He is also HUNTING<\/strong> down the Country Mills Eagles Record<\/strong> of 51.94m<\/strong> set by Anthony Mills Jr<\/strong>. in 2006!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Congratulations<\/strong> Ryan Slingerland<\/strong> on your ability to swallow and digest so much in such a short time!\u00a0 We look forward to Hunting Season<\/strong>, which for Javelin Throwers<\/strong>\u00a0begins in September<\/strong>. \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
