As a High School Student<\/strong>, a couple, which I held in high regard, once told me, \u201cYou are the Raw Material from which your Children begin their lives!\u201d <\/strong>\u00a0Furthermore, they added, \u201cIt is important that you look after your Children\u2019s Children, because they will be the Future!\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0 Unlike so many at that age, that made sense to me, and I could see the purpose and value in so doing.<\/p>\n

There are many important aspects to Life<\/strong>, of which living a Healthy Lifestyle<\/strong> is near the top of the list.\u00a0 As part of that, Track & Field<\/strong> was introduced to all of our Children<\/strong> at an early age, because it encompasses the Basic Motor Skill Movements<\/strong> of Running<\/strong>, Jumping<\/strong>, and Throwing<\/strong>.\u00a0 It was only natural to teach all aspects of Track & Field<\/strong>, then allow them to gravitate toward those things they preferred or enjoyed most.<\/p>\n

As one that didn\u2019t pick up a Javelin<\/strong> until my Junior Year<\/strong> in College<\/strong>, it quickly became my \u201cEvent of Choice\u201d<\/strong>, because it was unlikely I would ever be able to Put <\/strong>the Shot<\/strong> more than 15m<\/strong>. \u2639\u00a0 Having contested Javelin<\/strong> at the National Level<\/strong> in College<\/strong>, my PR<\/strong> was 48.77m<\/strong>, I couldn\u2019t get enough.\u00a0 When our Children<\/strong> were old enough to throw, they took to it quickly, especially our first son, Anthony Jr<\/strong>.\u00a0 His PR, 51.94m<\/strong>, is currently the Record<\/strong> for Boys<\/strong> (17-18).<\/p>\n

So, once his youngest daughter, Arianna<\/strong>, developed the ability to throw a ball, we allowed her to try the Turbo Javelin<\/strong> (Plastic with a Rubber Tip).\u00a0 She couldn\u2019t get enough!\u00a0 She would follow around doing all of the Drills<\/strong> I did.\u00a0 She even wanted to throw the real Javelin!<\/strong> \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n

Having WON GOLD<\/strong> in 2019<\/strong> at Greensboro<\/strong>, her chance to defend her Gold Medal<\/strong> was CANCELLED<\/strong> by Covid-19<\/strong> for 2020<\/strong>.\u00a0 In 2021<\/strong>, she settled for a 4th<\/sup> Place<\/strong> finish, as the loss of her Grandmother<\/strong> took its toll on her Practice Schedule<\/strong>.\u00a0 In 2022<\/strong>, she returned to Greensboro<\/strong> in search of Gold<\/strong>.\u00a0 With an unusually rough start with her first two (2)<\/strong> Throws<\/strong>, she found herself on the outside, looking in, as she was in 9th<\/sup> Place<\/strong>.\u00a0 She NEEDED<\/strong> a Throw<\/strong> that would advance her to the Finals<\/strong> (top 8).\u00a0 A 40<\/strong> minute Rain Delay<\/strong> put a halt to the Meet<\/strong>.\u00a0 Good Timing<\/strong>, as it provided a moment for reflection about what she NEEDED<\/strong> to do to get where she wanted to be.<\/p>\n

Once throwing resumed, her 3rd<\/sup> Throw was almost 23m<\/strong>, enough to move her into 7th<\/sup> Place<\/strong>,\u00a0 but more importantly advance to the Finals<\/strong>, where she would get three (3)<\/strong> more Throws<\/strong>.\u00a0 After discussing the strategy for those Throws<\/strong>, she did what ALL Great Athletes<\/strong> do, she launched a PR<\/strong> of 24.74m!<\/strong>\u00a0 A PR<\/strong> by almost 2m!<\/strong>\u00a0 And, she solidified the BRONZE Medal!<\/strong>\u00a0 Congratulations<\/strong> Arianna<\/strong> on an OUTSTANDING Performance<\/strong>, once again!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
