\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It<\/strong> has been stated throughout time that adversity is the fertile ground from which Great Opportunities<\/strong> can grow, and Great Things<\/strong> accomplished. With that thought in mind, the Patriot\u2019s Invitational<\/strong> faced its fair share of 2010 adversity. At the top of the list would be the lack of a contract agreement with Finish Right Timing, which has been the only Timing & Results service of the Empire State Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong> in its short five (5) year history. Due to personal issues, the \u201cVoice of the Liberty Tour\u201d<\/strong> was lost indefinitely; and due to job redistricting, the Liberty Tour<\/strong> lost its Photographer. To add fuel to the fire, the Finish Lynx<\/strong> camera on loan for this meet failed to effectively capture the start of each race, and for the first time in Liberty Tour<\/strong> history, a meet was \u201chand timed\u201d. \u00a0 Is it possible that there was Great Opportunity<\/strong> just around the corner? That is what each of the 800m runners are thinking at the start of the race (Pictured Above). \u201cIf I had to draw this up from scratch, I would never have drawn it up like this\u201d, said Executive Producer, Anthony Mills. He continues, \u201cThe athletes, parents, and spectators have come to expect certain standards of excellence, and this was not our brightest moment, that is for certain.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Regardless<\/strong> of his frustration, the 2010 Patriot\u2019s Invitational<\/strong> did set a record for registered athletes with 288<\/strong> showing up for the opening leg of the Liberty Tour<\/strong>, crushing the record by more than 100. The Meet Director, Lisa Mills, noted that, \u201cWe are happy to have had such wonderful weather, and a fantastic amount of support from the volunteers from Averill Park Road Runners<\/strong>. A special Thank You<\/strong> is extended to each of the Coaches<\/strong> and\/or Parents<\/strong> that stepped up to assist with the hand-timing of the meet.<\/div>\n
