{"id":402,"date":"2018-05-22T18:08:10","date_gmt":"2018-05-22T18:08:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/es-corporate-challenge\/?p=402"},"modified":"2018-05-22T18:08:10","modified_gmt":"2018-05-22T18:08:10","slug":"corporate-challenge-kick-off","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/es-corporate-challenge\/post\/corporate-challenge-kick-off\/","title":{"rendered":"CORPORATE CHALLENGE KICK-OFF!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-403\" src=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/es-corporate-challenge\/files\/2018\/05\/Basketball-3-on-3-400x476.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"400\" height=\"476\" \/>Rarely does one use the term <strong>\u201cKick-off\u201d<\/strong> when referring to <strong>Basketball <\/strong>(3-on-3), but in the case of the <strong>2018 Empire State Corporate Challenge<\/strong>, it is very much true\u2026 because the <strong>Kick-off Event<\/strong> for the <strong>Inaugural Season<\/strong> of the <strong>Corporate Challenge<\/strong> was, indeed, <strong>Basketball!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0There are seven <strong>(7) Events<\/strong> that make up the <strong>2018 Empire State Corporate Challenge<\/strong> (Basketball (3-on-3), Softball, Track &amp; Field, 5k Run, Kickball, Dodgeball, and The Great Empire Walk), and the <strong>Basketball<\/strong> competition was up first.\u00a0 It was a drizzly, precipitous kind of day, so being indoors for this event was helpful.\u00a0 In fact, one <strong>(1)<\/strong> of the <strong>Players<\/strong> from <strong>CapCom<\/strong> got caught in the rain going from his car to the front door, and once he stepped on the <strong>Basketball Court<\/strong> he had grown to\u00a0<strong>7\u2019!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0With the assistance of <strong>DEADLY Shooting<\/strong> from <strong>3 Point Range<\/strong>, <strong>CapCom<\/strong> was unstoppable, as they went undefeated throughout the <strong>Tournament<\/strong> to <strong>WIN<\/strong> the <strong>GOLD Medal<\/strong> for the <strong>Basketball <\/strong>competition (<strong><em>Pictured Above<\/em><\/strong>).\u00a0 <strong>\u201cTo say that they were \u2018Heads &amp; Shoulders\u2019 above the rest is an understatement, but it was also a physical reality!\u201d<\/strong>, states Anthony Mills, <strong>Executive Director<\/strong> for the <strong>Empire State Sports Council<\/strong>, which produces the <strong>Empire State Corporate Challenge<\/strong>.\u00a0 He adds, <strong>\u201cThey were nearly flawless in their execution, regardless of who had the ball.\u00a0 It will be exciting, and interesting, to have them return to defend their Gold Medal in 2019!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Taking the <strong>Silver Medal<\/strong> was the <strong>Country Mills Eagles<\/strong>, and the <strong>Bronze Medal<\/strong> went to <strong>Berkshire Bank<\/strong>. \u00a0For those tracking the scoring for the top three <strong>(3) Corporate Teams<\/strong>, it is as follows:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0CapCom <\/strong>\u2013 10 Points<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Country Mills Eagles<\/strong> \u2013 8 Points<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Berkshire Bank<\/strong> \u2013 6 Points<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<strong>Softball<\/strong> is up next, and will begin on <strong>June 4<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>, which is just two <strong>(2)<\/strong> weeks away.\u00a0 Be sure to get your <strong>Team Registered NOW<\/strong>, as <strong>ES Sports<\/strong> will need time to organize the <strong>Pool Play<\/strong> at the appropriate <strong>Field<\/strong>, <strong>Day<\/strong>, and <strong>Time<\/strong>.\u00a0 On the heels of that is the <strong>Track &amp; Field<\/strong> competition, and the <strong>5k Run<\/strong>, which are scheduled for <strong>Saturday<\/strong>, <strong>July 14<sup>th<\/sup><\/strong>.\u00a0 For those looking for <strong>Track &amp; Field<\/strong> opportunities to <strong>\u201cPractice\u201d<\/strong>, <strong>ES Sports<\/strong> offers the <strong>Liberty Tour Track &amp; Field Series<\/strong>, which boats six <strong>(6)<\/strong> different <strong>Track &amp; Field<\/strong> competitions from <strong>Memorial Day Weekend<\/strong> through <strong>Independence Day Weekend<\/strong>, and take place throughout the <strong>Empire State<\/strong>, a few of them are located in or nearby the <strong>Capital Region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The <strong>Empire State Corporate Challenge<\/strong> is open to <strong>ALL Employees<\/strong>, their <strong>Spouses<\/strong>, and their <strong>Children<\/strong>, so be sure to include your <strong>Family<\/strong> in the ALL of the <strong>Exciting Competition &amp;
