\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\"\"Rarely does one use the term \u201cKick-off\u201d<\/strong> when referring to Basketball <\/strong>(3-on-3), but in the case of the 2018 Empire State Corporate Challenge<\/strong>, it is very much true\u2026 because the Kick-off Event<\/strong> for the Inaugural Season<\/strong> of the Corporate Challenge<\/strong> was, indeed, Basketball!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0There are seven (7) Events<\/strong> that make up the 2018 Empire State Corporate Challenge<\/strong> (Basketball (3-on-3), Softball, Track & Field, 5k Run, Kickball, Dodgeball, and The Great Empire Walk), and the Basketball<\/strong> competition was up first.\u00a0 It was a drizzly, precipitous kind of day, so being indoors for this event was helpful.\u00a0 In fact, one (1)<\/strong> of the Players<\/strong> from CapCom<\/strong> got caught in the rain going from his car to the front door, and once he stepped on the Basketball Court<\/strong> he had grown to\u00a07\u2019!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0With the assistance of DEADLY Shooting<\/strong> from 3 Point Range<\/strong>, CapCom<\/strong> was unstoppable, as they went undefeated throughout the Tournament<\/strong> to WIN<\/strong> the GOLD Medal<\/strong> for the Basketball <\/strong>competition (Pictured Above<\/em><\/strong>).\u00a0 \u201cTo say that they were \u2018Heads & Shoulders\u2019 above the rest is an understatement, but it was also a physical reality!\u201d<\/strong>, states Anthony Mills, Executive Director<\/strong> for the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong>, which produces the Empire State Corporate Challenge<\/strong>.\u00a0 He adds, \u201cThey were nearly flawless in their execution, regardless of who had the ball.\u00a0 It will be exciting, and interesting, to have them return to defend their Gold Medal in 2019!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Taking the Silver Medal<\/strong> was the Country Mills Eagles<\/strong>, and the Bronze Medal<\/strong> went to Berkshire Bank<\/strong>. \u00a0For those tracking the scoring for the top three (3) Corporate Teams<\/strong>, it is as follows:<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0CapCom <\/strong>\u2013 10 Points
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Country Mills Eagles<\/strong> \u2013 8 Points
\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Berkshire Bank<\/strong> \u2013 6 Points<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Softball<\/strong> is up next, and will begin on June 4th<\/sup><\/strong>, which is just two (2)<\/strong> weeks away.\u00a0 Be sure to get your Team Registered NOW<\/strong>, as ES Sports<\/strong> will need time to organize the Pool Play<\/strong> at the appropriate Field<\/strong>, Day<\/strong>, and Time<\/strong>.\u00a0 On the heels of that is the Track & Field<\/strong> competition, and the 5k Run<\/strong>, which are scheduled for Saturday<\/strong>, July 14th<\/sup><\/strong>.\u00a0 For those looking for Track & Field<\/strong> opportunities to \u201cPractice\u201d<\/strong>, ES Sports<\/strong> offers the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong>, which boats six (6)<\/strong> different Track & Field<\/strong> competitions from Memorial Day Weekend<\/strong> through Independence Day Weekend<\/strong>, and take place throughout the Empire State<\/strong>, a few of them are located in or nearby the Capital Region<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
