2016 Olympic Hopefuls Shine<\/span><\/h1>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Scotia, NY<\/strong> \u2013 It was one of those \u201cTriple-H Days\u201d<\/strong> (Hazy, Hot, & Humid), and if this event was held at the same location that it was in 2012<\/strong>, the weather could have been a factor.\u00a0 <\/span>However, a decision was made back in February, when it was still cold and snowy, to move the Judo<\/strong> event to Mekeel Christian Academy<\/strong>, which boasts a relatively New Gymnasium with very comfortable Air Conditioning<\/strong>.<\/span>\u00a0 <\/span>\u201cIt may have been the single greatest improvement we could have made for this event in 2013\u201d responds Anthony Mills, the Executive Director of the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong>, which oversees the Production and Management of the Liberty Games<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 However cool and comfortable it may have been for everyone, Nick Kossor<\/strong> didn\u2019t make it so for any of his opponents on the day, as he made his way to the Medal Stand taking the Gold<\/strong> in the 66 kg<\/strong> weight class.\u00a0 He is Pictured Above<\/strong><\/em> throwing one of his competitors en route to winning that Title at the 2nd<\/sup> Annual Liberty Games<\/strong>, which was a large success, with more than 60<\/strong> Athletes from all over the Northeast gathered to compete at this New and Exciting event.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <\/span>Other high level competition featured 2016 Olympic Hopefuls<\/strong>, Brad Bolen<\/strong> (24), Alex Turner<\/strong> (20) and Tony Sangimino<\/strong> (22) from the <\/span>Jason Morris Judo Center<\/span><\/strong> (JMJC) in <\/span>Glenville<\/span><\/strong>, <\/span>NY<\/span><\/strong> in action. <\/span>“I am pleased with the progress of this event”<\/span><\/strong> said Judo Sports Chair<\/strong> and Olympic Silver Medalist<\/strong>, Jason Morris. <\/span>“The competition level was higher this year and the venue was fantastic”<\/span><\/strong> the <\/span>4x Olympian<\/span><\/strong> added. <\/span><\/p>\n

The hometown team, JMJC led the medal count, winning 24<\/span><\/strong> overall Medals.<\/span><\/p>\n
