400w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 480px) 100vw, 480px\" \/><\/a>A New Concept For A New State Games<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Many Events<\/strong> exist for athletes of specific styles of <strong>Martial Arts<\/strong>, but very few events bring athletes of different training backgrounds together.\u00a0 <strong>Open Tournaments<\/strong> have been around for years, and after spending time with <a title=\" More info on Master Grogin\" href=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-games\/post\/master-adam-grogin\/\"><strong>Master Adam Grogin<\/strong> <\/a>(Sport\u2019s Chair for Martial Arts), it is very easy to understand the value associated with expanding this concept throughout the state of New York, and so the <strong>Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> was eager to bring in such a concept to the <strong>2012 Liberty Games<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>\u00a0\u201cToday, there is an overwhelming amount of \u2018ego\u2019 associated with the Martial Arts\u201d Master Grogin<\/strong> notes.\u00a0 He adds, <strong>\u201cStudents tend to have almost too much pride in their school, style, and instructors.\u00a0 We are happy to be a part of the 2012 Liberty Games, as they are willing to embrace the concept of offering a competition with the attitude that is less interested in finding out which &#8216;style&#8217; is best, but like the Northeast Open, they share the goal of opening competitors\u2019 eyes to the beauty and strength of all different styles of Martial Arts.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0All <strong>Martial Arts<\/strong> styles (Karate, Taekwondo, Kung Fu, Capoeira, Wu Shu, Ju Jitsu, Kempo) regardless of focus and origin, are a family.\u00a0 According to <strong>Master Grogin, \u201cWith an open-minded approach, we expect to begin see a change in the way people think about Martial Arts training.\u201d\u00a0<\/strong> <strong>Martial Artists<\/strong> focus on improving their character through physical and mental practices, while building self defense skills.\u00a0 However, each style\u00a0just has its own approach,\u00a0with different ways and philosophies of accomplishing these goals.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-games\/post\/martial-arts-opens-your-mind\/martial-arts-forms\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-917\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright  wp-image-917\" title=\"martial arts forms\" src=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-games\/files\/2012\/05\/martial-arts-forms.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"320\" height=\"366\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0Regardless of style, all <strong>Martial Artists<\/strong> strive to build self confidence, courtesy, modesty, and integrity.\u00a0 It is our hope that through the <strong>Open Forms<\/strong> of competition at the <strong>Liberty Games<\/strong> that such a platform can be created that allows each athlete to illustrate these character skills by meeting and performing in the presence of such a diverse group of <strong>Martial Artists.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The <strong><em>E<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>mpire <\/em><\/strong><strong><em>S<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>tate Sports Council<\/em><\/strong> is pleased to announce <strong>Martial Arts<\/strong> as an <strong>Official Sport of the 2012 Liberty <strong>T-E-A-M<\/strong> (Together Everyone Achieves More), we would like to make a spot in each of the articles written, to impress upon you the importance of each of the individual Sport\u2019s Chairs, as they are critical in the effort to <em><strong>Bring Back the Games!\u00a0<\/strong><\/em> The <strong>Martial Arts<\/strong> Sport\u2019s Chair is <strong>Master Adam Grogin<\/strong>.\u00a0 When asked about Martial Arts being part of the <strong>Liberty Games<\/strong>, Adam responded by saying, <strong>\u201cMartial arts has been significantly \u00a0growing as an activity\/sport and to have it included in such a large event, among so many more sports, is a huge accomplishment for the sport.\u00a0 The organizers of the event should be commended for giving the Martial Arts the kind of recognition that shows it belongs among the others at the Liberty Games.\u201d<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The <strong><em>E<\/em><\/strong><strong><em>mpire
