\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0I can hear everyone now!\u00a0 The minute you look at the title of this article, you are likely thinking that the writer left the \u201cR\u201d out of the word \u201cshort\u201d, because as the clich\u00e9 goes, it should read, \u201cthe Long and Short of it\u201d.\u00a0 If you were one that did so, then you have \u201cjumped the gun\u201d (to use another clich\u00e9).\u00a0 Actually, it is on purpose that the \u201cR\u201d is removed, because this article about the Adirondack Championships was about the number of Records set in the Long Distance Races, and the Shot Put.\u00a0 You do have to admit, though, it did get your attention initially.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The weather was so perfect, that one may have thought it was ordered just for the occasion.\u00a0 With more than 250 competitors, many of these athletes were going to vie for the chance to compete at the upcoming Region I Junior Olympics being held at RPI in just three (3) weeks, July 8th<\/sup> \u2013 10th<\/sup>, which will bring nearly 1,000 Youth Track & Field athletes to the Capital Region.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0One of the highlights of the Adirondack Championships was certainly Maryanna Lansing (Pictured Above) who set an Adirondack Championship Record in the Youth Girl\u2019s 800m Run with a time of 2:30.11.\u00a0 What makes her get the attention to be the lead photo for this article is that she followed it up with another Adirondack Championship Youth Girl\u2019s Record in the 1500m Run, posting a time of 5:08.97, just less than nine (9) seconds from breaking the five (5) minute mark.<\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0In total there were 13 Records broken from the 800m and up, but there were also four (4) Shot Put Records set. \u00a0Out of a total of 25 Records actually set for this event on the day, this was the next highest number of records set at an event at the Adirondack Championships,<\/p>\n
