{"id":3533,"date":"2015-06-07T22:18:51","date_gmt":"2015-06-08T02:18:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-tour\/?p=3533"},"modified":"2015-06-09T18:50:28","modified_gmt":"2015-06-09T22:50:28","slug":"celebrating-anasia","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-tour\/post\/celebrating-anasia\/","title":{"rendered":"Celebrating Anasia"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h1 style=\"text-align: center;\">President&#8217;s Open 2015<\/h1>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a href=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-tour\/files\/2015\/06\/Celebrating-Anasia-e1433728862700.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-3534 \" src=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-tour\/files\/2015\/06\/Celebrating-Anasia-400x270.jpg\" alt=\"Celebrating Anasia\" width=\"457\" height=\"308\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 One of the most difficult things in life to deal with is the trauma caused by the loss of a loved one!\u00a0 In fact, it is the <strong>MOST<\/strong> difficult, according to many Psychologists!\u00a0 Each of us deals with it at some point, and usually it is the loss of our Parents.\u00a0 However, when it is a child, it <strong>IS<\/strong> much more difficult, as they are perceived as so innocent and unworthy of such an abrupt conclusion to <strong>LIFE!<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On their way to <strong>Saratoga<\/strong> on <strong>Friday<\/strong>, <strong>June 16<\/strong>, <strong>2006<\/strong>, to compete at the <strong>2nd Annual President&#8217;s Open<\/strong>, which was scheduled for <strong>Saturday<\/strong>, <strong>June 17th<\/strong>, the <strong>NY Novas Track &amp; Field Team<\/strong> experienced just that feeling, when <strong>Princess Anasia Thompson Hogan<\/strong> (PATH), was thrown from the van in which she was riding, during an unfortunate vehicle accident on the NYS Thruway, just south of Kingston, NY. <strong>&#8220;Probably one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do, was to go forward with the President&#8217;s Open the following day, after receiving news of this fatal accident&#8221;<\/strong>, says Executive Director of the <strong>Empire State Sports Council<\/strong>, Anthony Mills.\u00a0 He remembers, <strong>&#8220;Coach Taylor made it clear to go ahead anyway, as that was the appropriate conclusion to this unexpected set of circumstances.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It has been <strong>10<\/strong> years since that <strong>President&#8217;s Open<\/strong>, and although <strong>NO ONE<\/strong> can ever do <strong>ANYTHING <\/strong>to compensate for the loss of a life, the <strong>Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> (ES Sports) wanted to do something to not just remember, but <strong>CELEBRATE<\/strong> the life of <strong>Anasia<\/strong>, who was in <strong>3rd<\/strong> grade at the time of her passing.\u00a0 Because she enjoyed, in fact excelled, at the <strong>400m<\/strong> dash event, along with having a spot on the <strong>NY Novas<\/strong> 1600m Bantam Girl&#8217;s Relay Team, <strong>ES Sports<\/strong> announced this year that it would <strong>Celebrate Anasia<\/strong> by naming the <strong>400m <\/strong>event at each <strong>President&#8217;s Open<\/strong> going forward, after her.\u00a0 There will be a <strong>Special Award<\/strong> given to the <strong>Sub Bantam<\/strong> and <strong>Bantam Girl<\/strong> that wins the <strong>400m<\/strong> event at the <strong>Liberty Tour Banquet<\/strong> in September (more details to follow).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The <strong>2015<\/strong> winners\u00a0 of the <strong>Princess Anasia Thompson Hogan<\/strong> (PATH) <strong>400m Award<\/strong> are as follows, and <strong>Pictured Below<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sub Bantam &#8211; <strong>Destoni Tudy<\/strong> (Nova Starz)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bantam &#8211; <strong>Paige Smith-Griffin<\/strong> (Nova Starz)<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To make it a completely successful day, the <strong>NY Novas<\/strong>, now the <strong>Nova Starz<\/strong>, also took <strong>1st Place<\/strong> in the Team Scoring at the <strong>President&#8217;s Open<\/strong>, amassing <strong>495<\/strong>\u00a0points, which moves them into <strong>2nd Place<\/strong> in the <strong>Liberty Tour Team Standings<\/strong>, behind <strong>Chatham Gold<\/strong>, which still holds <strong>1st Place<\/strong> overall at the conclusion of the <strong>3rd<\/strong> stop of the <strong>Liberty Tour Track &amp; Field Series<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Liberty Sports Gear<\/strong> has partnered with the <strong>Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> (ES Sports) and is offering more than <strong>$1,000<\/strong> in <strong>Gift Certificates<\/strong>, that can be used by the winning clubs for Equipment, Footwear, Team Uniforms, and more!\u00a0 The <strong>Liberty Tour Track &amp; Field Series<\/strong> is comprised of six <strong>(6)<\/strong> events, and the <strong>Adirondack District Championships <\/strong>are next up on <strong>Saturday, June 13th<\/strong>, with a <strong>10:00 am<\/strong> start time.\u00a0 Be sure your Track &amp; She attended elementary school at PS 30, where she began running Track with the NY Novas Track Club, and her Teacher\/Coach Mr. George Taylor.  She was in the 3rd grade at the time of her passing.  Her favorite color was pink, and she wanted to be a model when she got older.
