President’s Open 2015<\/h1>\n

\"Celebrating<\/a>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 One of the most difficult things in life to deal with is the trauma caused by the loss of a loved one!\u00a0 In fact, it is the MOST<\/strong> difficult, according to many Psychologists!\u00a0 Each of us deals with it at some point, and usually it is the loss of our Parents.\u00a0 However, when it is a child, it IS<\/strong> much more difficult, as they are perceived as so innocent and unworthy of such an abrupt conclusion to LIFE!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On their way to Saratoga<\/strong> on Friday<\/strong>, June 16<\/strong>, 2006<\/strong>, to compete at the 2nd Annual President’s Open<\/strong>, which was scheduled for Saturday<\/strong>, June 17th<\/strong>, the NY Novas Track & Field Team<\/strong> experienced just that feeling, when Princess Anasia Thompson Hogan<\/strong> (PATH), was thrown from the van in which she was riding, during an unfortunate vehicle accident on the NYS Thruway, just south of Kingston, NY. “Probably one of the most difficult things I have ever had to do, was to go forward with the President’s Open the following day, after receiving news of this fatal accident”<\/strong>, says Executive Director of the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong>, Anthony Mills.\u00a0 He remembers, “Coach Taylor made it clear to go ahead anyway, as that was the appropriate conclusion to this unexpected set of circumstances.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 It has been 10<\/strong> years since that President’s Open<\/strong>, and although NO ONE<\/strong> can ever do ANYTHING <\/strong>to compensate for the loss of a life, the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> (ES Sports) wanted to do something to not just remember, but CELEBRATE<\/strong> the life of Anasia<\/strong>, who was in 3rd<\/strong> grade at the time of her passing.\u00a0 Because she enjoyed, in fact excelled, at the 400m<\/strong> dash event, along with having a spot on the NY Novas<\/strong> 1600m Bantam Girl’s Relay Team, ES Sports<\/strong> announced this year that it would Celebrate Anasia<\/strong> by naming the 400m <\/strong>event at each President’s Open<\/strong> going forward, after her.\u00a0 There will be a Special Award<\/strong> given to the Sub Bantam<\/strong> and Bantam Girl<\/strong> that wins the 400m<\/strong> event at the Liberty Tour Banquet<\/strong> in September (more details to follow).<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 The 2015<\/strong> winners\u00a0 of the Princess Anasia Thompson Hogan<\/strong> (PATH) 400m Award<\/strong> are as follows, and Pictured Below<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Sub Bantam – Destoni Tudy<\/strong> (Nova Starz)<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Bantam – Paige Smith-Griffin<\/strong> (Nova Starz)<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 To make it a completely successful day, the NY Novas<\/strong>, now the Nova Starz<\/strong>, also took 1st Place<\/strong> in the Team Scoring at the President’s Open<\/strong>, amassing 495<\/strong>\u00a0points, which moves them into 2nd Place<\/strong> in the Liberty Tour Team Standings<\/strong>, behind Chatham Gold<\/strong>, which still holds 1st Place<\/strong> overall at the conclusion of the 3rd<\/strong> stop of the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Liberty Sports Gear<\/strong> has partnered with the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> (ES Sports) and is offering more than $1,000<\/strong> in Gift Certificates<\/strong>, that can be used by the winning clubs for Equipment, Footwear, Team Uniforms, and more!\u00a0 The Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong> is comprised of six (6)<\/strong> events, and the Adirondack District Championships <\/strong>are next up on Saturday, June 13th<\/strong>, with a 10:00 am<\/strong> start time.\u00a0 Be sure your Track & Field club makes it to each remaining Liberty Tour<\/strong> event, so that your Team is in the best position to earn one (1)<\/strong> of four (4) Team Prizes<\/strong>.\u00a0 The top Prize<\/strong> is worth $500<\/strong> of Liberty Sports Gear!<\/strong><\/p>\n
