\u00a0 \u00a0\"constitution<\/a> It was a day suited for growth, albeit Green Vegetation, but <\/span>NOT <\/strong>necessarily <\/span>Record Setting Performances<\/strong> at the <\/span>Constitution Classic<\/strong>, which is the <\/span>2nd<\/strong> stop of the <\/span>Empire State Liberty Tour Track & Field Series!<\/strong>\u00a0 Within <\/span>24<\/strong> hours, more than <\/span>2″<\/strong> of rain fell, much of which was saved for the competitors, as an attempt, I suspect, to remain hydrated, although that was certainly <\/span>NOT<\/strong> necessary.\u00a0 Precipitation began just before the meet got underway, but did subside after the Hurdle events.\u00a0 That allowed enough time for the <\/span>National Anthem<\/strong>, and the start of the <\/span>100m Preliminary Heats<\/strong>, then it restarted in time for the 3000m Run.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The sand in the Long Jump Pits<\/strong> was heavy and sticky, the level of water continued to rise in the Throwing Circles<\/strong>.\u00a0 At times one may have considered Swimming across the Circles, rather than Gliding or Spinning.\u00a0 But, Track & Field IS<\/strong> contested in the rain, and as Og Mandino writes in his best-selling book, “The Greatest Salesman in the World”<\/strong>, in the Chapter entitled “PERSISTENCE”<\/strong> (Scroll III), “I WILL PERSIST UNTIL I SUCCEED!”<\/strong>\u00a0 That is EXACTLY<\/strong> what Patrick Weinert<\/strong> (Open Men’s Division) and Mya Muse<\/strong> (Senior Scholastic Girl’s Division) did, as each set Hammer Records<\/strong> in their respective divisions for the Constitution Classic<\/strong>, and it didn’t appear as though the dripping weather had any effect on them as they ‘Hammered’ <\/strong>away at the Record Books!<\/strong><\/p>\n
