\"Combined<\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0It ONLY<\/strong> happens twice each Liberty Tour Track & Field<\/strong> season, but the Combined Events<\/strong> are ALWAYS <\/strong>an event that draws a particular type of Athlete, and the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong> is the ONLY<\/strong> place to find them EVERY Year!<\/strong>\u00a0 Some refer to these Athletes as “Jacks of ALL Trades, Masters of None”<\/strong>, as there are several events that make up each specific Combined Event<\/strong>.\u00a0 For instance, the Youth Pentathlon<\/strong> consists of the 100m Hurdles<\/strong>, Long Jump<\/strong>, Shot Put<\/strong>, High Jump<\/strong>, and 800m Run<\/strong>.\u00a0 In fact, there is a Combined Event<\/strong> for every age division, except one, and that is the Primary<\/strong> age division.<\/p>\n

\"Combined<\/a><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 Well, that was the case, until 2016<\/strong> when the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> announced that it was going to introduce a Combined Event<\/strong> suited for the Primary<\/strong> age Athletes<\/strong>.\u00a0 This “Triathlon”<\/strong> includes three (3)<\/strong> events, and they are NOT<\/strong> Swimming, Biking, and Running, but rather, the Shot Put<\/strong>, Long Jump<\/strong>, and the 200m Dash!<\/strong>\u00a0 “We are EXCITED about the Primary age division,”<\/strong> stated Anthony Mills, Executive Director of the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong>, and the Producer of the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong>.\u00a0 He continues, “ES Sports has an objective to teach Basic Motor Skill Movement for children at these young ages, something that has long since been forgotten by many elementary PE programs, which are Throwing, Jumping, and Running.\u00a0 This new Triathlon addresses each of these Basic Motor Movement Skills, and allows the Athletes to experience them in a FUN, yet competitive environment.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 What was even more FUN<\/strong> at this Combined Event<\/strong>, is that the Master’s Pentathlon<\/strong> overlapped a couple of the events in the Triathlon<\/strong>, so they were contested at the same time.\u00a0 The Primary Triathlon Girls (Pictured Above, L to R:\u00a0 Uriah Murdaugh – Country Mills Eagles, Emily Goodrich – Chatham Gold, Madalynn Madsen – Chatham Gold, Arianna Mills – Country Mills Eagles<\/em><\/strong>), shared the Long Jump Pit<\/strong> and the 200m Dash<\/strong> with the Executive Director, who is also the Athletic Director for the Country Mills Eagles Athletic Club<\/strong>.\u00a0 Mr. Mills noted, “I am blessed to have the opportunity to share this evening with them.\u00a0 We NEED more Master’s Athletes to join in the FUN!”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Next up on the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong> calendar is the Independence Invitational.\u00a0 <\/strong>This meet takes place on Saturday<\/strong>, July 2nd<\/strong> at Clinton High School<\/strong>, located in Clinton, NY, and it will begin at 2:00 pm.<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/strong>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/strong>Be sure to note that the Track & Field<\/strong> competition for the Liberty Games <\/strong>is scheduled for Friday & Saturday<\/strong>, July 15th & 16th<\/strong>, and is also weighted in the scoring, which means that 2 points<\/strong> is awarded for each point scored!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
