It was the 13th<\/sup> Annual President\u2019s Open<\/strong>, but there was nothing unlucky about the Track & Field<\/strong> performance by the Norwich Bolts!<\/strong>\u00a0 On the heels of a dripping Constitution Classic<\/strong>, the President\u2019s Open<\/strong> was overwhelmed with Sunshine<\/strong> and Warm Temperatures<\/strong> that made for an ideal day for competition.\u00a0 Eager to prove their prowess as first time hosts for a Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong> event, the Bolts<\/strong> had nearly 70 Athletes<\/strong> (impressive in only their 2nd<\/sup> <\/strong>year of organization) covering ALL <\/strong>Age Divisions, and just about every Track & Field event.<\/p>\n

One \u201cBolt\u201d<\/strong> struck in the Youth Girl\u2019s 100m Dash<\/strong> when Milla Gonzales<\/strong> (Pictured Above<\/em><\/strong> for the Norwich Bolts<\/strong>) just barely edged out Alana Burden (Country Mills Eagles) by 1\/100th<\/sup><\/strong> of a second to secure 1st<\/sup> Place<\/strong> with a time of 13.67<\/strong> seconds.\u00a0 With a dominating Team Performance, The Bolts<\/strong> finished the day with an astounding 431 Team Points<\/strong>, more than 150 Points<\/strong> above 2nd<\/sup> Place<\/strong> Chatham Gold (264 points), and 3rd<\/sup> Place<\/strong> Country Mills Eagles (247 points), and the 2016 Liberty Tour Track & Field Series Top Scoring Team!<\/strong>\u00a0 \u201cWe are so HAPPY to be hosting the President\u2019s Open this year.\u201d Exclaimed Shannon Gawronski, Head Track & Field Coach for the Norwich Bolts.<\/strong>\u00a0 She adds, \u201cThis is GREAT for our Track & Field Team, and the community!\u00a0 Our performance today reflects our excitement!\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

For those that were fortunate enough to watch the Javelin<\/strong> competition, it could be argued that Zeus<\/strong> himself was there to compete, as Michael Jeffers (Pictured Below<\/em><\/strong>), from the University of Connecticut<\/strong> (UCONN) set a new President\u2019s Open Record<\/strong> in the Senior Boys Javelin<\/strong> with a heave of 52.83m<\/strong>.\u00a0 \u201cThe Liberty Tour Track & Field Series tends to draw top ranked Athletes in ALL Age Divisions,\u201d<\/strong> noted Executive Director of the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong>, Anthony Mills.\u00a0 He continues, \u201cIt is always a pleasure to watch elite Athletes perform, and set new Records, especially at a Liberty Tour event!\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
