\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0June 28 – July 1, 2018<\/h2>\n\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0June 28 – July 1, 2018<\/h2>\nBy definition, KINGSTON<\/strong> is an Old English<\/strong> name that most often means King\u2019s Estate<\/strong> or King\u2019s Field<\/strong>.\u00a0 What could more appropriate than to have the AAU Region I Track & Field Ch<\/strong>ampionships<\/strong> at Dietz Stadium<\/strong> in KINGSTON, NY?<\/strong>\u00a0 That IS<\/strong> the setting for the event that will be contested over 3\u00bd<\/strong> days from June 28th<\/sup> \u2013 July 1st<\/sup><\/strong>, which will likely see more than 1,500 Athletes<\/strong> of ALL <\/strong>ages in attendance, trying to compete for a limited number of spots that will allow them to advance to the National Junior Olympics<\/strong> at Drake University<\/strong> in Des Moines<\/strong>, IA<\/strong> in late July<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u201cWe are EXCITED to be selected to produce the Region I Track & Field Championships in 2018\u201d<\/strong>, exclaimed Anthony Mills, the Executive Director<\/strong> of the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> (ES Sports<\/strong> for short).\u00a0 He adds, \u201cWe fully expect to provide a competitive, and yet FUN filled experience for Athletes, Coaches, and Parents!”<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> is a Non Profit, 501(c)3 Organization<\/strong> that picked up what was once the former Empire State Games<\/strong>, which in 2011<\/strong>, was re-branded as the Liberty Games<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0There are three (3) qualifying rounds for Track & Field Athletes.<\/strong>\u00a0 The first of which is a District Championship<\/strong> (Adirondack, New England, Connecticut, New Jersey, Metro).\u00a0 Each District Championship<\/strong> will advance Athletes<\/strong> to the Region I Track & Field Championships<\/strong>, and that will be held in Kingston<\/strong>, NY<\/strong> in 2018<\/strong>.\u00a0 From there, Athletes<\/strong> will advance to the National Junior Olympics<\/strong> where they will match up against the best in the\u00a0Nation. \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0\u201cWe believe we have assembled a proper mix of Professional, yet Athlete Friendly, Track & Field personnel\u201d<\/strong>, the Event Coordinator<\/strong> for the Empire State Sports Council,<\/strong> Lisa Mills, noted.\u00a0 \u201cAthletes, Coaches, and Parents should be able to enjoy this competitive experience, and we believe that ES Sports will provide that for everyone.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0The AAU Region I Track & Field Championships<\/strong> are open to ALL Age Divisions<\/strong>, starting with the Primary Division<\/strong> (6 & under) up to and including Open & Master\u2019s Athletes<\/strong>.\u00a0 Medals are provided for the top three (3)<\/strong> finishers in each event, although the top six (6)<\/strong> in each individual event will advance to the National Junior Olympics<\/strong>.\u00a0 In the Combined Events<\/strong> (Triathlon, Pentathlon, Heptathlon, Decathlon) only the top four (4)<\/strong> will advance.<\/p>\n \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0For more information please contact ES Sports as follows:<\/p>\n![\"\"](\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-tour\/files\/2018\/04\/dietz-stadium.jpg\")
