Presidents Open Track Meet<\/p><\/div>\n

As one that is a Teacher<\/strong> of Physical Education<\/strong>, the Foundation<\/strong> for all Basic Motor Skill Movement<\/strong> is Running<\/strong>, Jumping<\/strong>, and Throwing!<\/strong>\u00a0 That noted, being able to develop those Basic Skills<\/strong>, as a young boy or girl, is to be able to set the stage for taking on Fine Motor Movement Skills<\/strong>, such as Sprinting<\/strong>, Long Jumping<\/strong>, Javelin Throwing<\/strong>, etc.<\/p>\n

One DOES NOT<\/strong> learn to Pole Vault<\/strong> (effectively) without knowing how to Long Jump<\/strong> or High Jump<\/strong>, which are precursors to learning how to Vault<\/strong>, as a general rule.\u00a0 In the same manner, learning to throw a Softball <\/strong>usually comes before one learns how to throw a Discus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

One of the reasons for the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> (ES Sports for short) producing the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong> each year is to offer Athletes <\/strong>opportunities to develop these Basic Motor Movement Skills<\/strong> that are practiced during the week with their Teams<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

At the President\u2019s Open<\/strong>, the 3rd<\/sup> Leg<\/strong> of the Liberty Tour<\/strong>, the Basic Motor Skills<\/strong> showed considerable development.\u00a0 For the Running<\/strong>, we only need to watch Emma Szarek<\/strong> (Majistics) in the Girl\u2019s<\/strong> (13-14) 800m Run<\/strong> as she sets a new President\u2019s Open Record<\/strong> in that Event<\/strong> with a time of 2:31.90<\/strong>, breaking the previous Record <\/strong>of 2:33.43<\/strong> set by Olivia Cruickshank<\/strong> in 2015<\/strong>.\u00a0 Moreover, Emma<\/strong> also set a new 1500m Record<\/strong>, in the same Age Division<\/strong>, with a time of 5:22.99<\/strong>, shattering the old Record <\/strong>of 5:41.03<\/strong> set by Olivia Skylstad<\/strong> in 2016<\/strong>.\u00a0 If your name is Olivia<\/strong>, BEWARE<\/strong> of Emma!<\/strong> \ud83d\ude0a<\/p>\n

As for Jumping<\/strong>, Raiyah Patterson<\/strong> showed off her Skill Development<\/strong> by setting a new Girl\u2019s<\/strong> (11-12) Long Jump Record<\/strong> with a leap of 4.39m<\/strong>, just barely nudging out the previous Record<\/strong> of 4.38m<\/strong> by Nastasja Johnston<\/strong> set in 2009<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

When it comes to Throwing<\/strong>, the Javelin Vector<\/strong> was the ideal stage for two (2) Records<\/strong>.\u00a0 The first by Alana Burden<\/strong> (Country Mills Eagles), who set a PR<\/strong>, as well as a President\u2019s Open Record<\/strong> with her toss of 32.65m<\/strong>, breaking the previous Record<\/strong> of 31.38m<\/strong> by Amanda Pasko<\/strong> set in 2013<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

To prove that Records<\/strong> are NOT<\/strong> just for the Youth Athletes<\/strong>, but also for those that are Young <\/strong>at Heart<\/strong>, Anthony Mills Jr.<\/strong> (Men\u2019s Open Division) set a New President\u2019s Open Record<\/strong> with a throw of 50.60m<\/strong> eclipsing the previous Record of 48.71m<\/strong> set by Anthony Mills Jr.<\/strong> in 2018!<\/strong>\u00a0 Anthony also has the Liberty Tour Record<\/strong> for Javelin<\/strong>, which currently stands at 50.85m<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
