{"id":606,"date":"2012-03-18T16:18:54","date_gmt":"2012-03-18T20:18:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/country-mills-eagles\/?p=606"},"modified":"2012-03-18T18:27:03","modified_gmt":"2012-03-18T22:27:03","slug":"lisa-mills","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/country-mills-eagles\/post\/lisa-mills\/","title":{"rendered":"Lisa Mills"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/country-mills-eagles\/post\/lisa-mills\/bio-lisa-mills\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-609\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-thumbnail wp-image-609\" title=\"bio-lisa-mills\" src=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/country-mills-eagles\/files\/2012\/03\/bio-lisa-mills-e1332109474316-142x200.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"142\" height=\"200\" \/><\/a>Lisa was born in Green Bay, WI (the cheese state).\u00a0She grew up in a tiny (and I mean tiny) unincorporated town of 175 people.\u00a0She is the grand daughter of one of the area\u2019s better known farmers.\u00a0And so, it was not a surprise to find that she is most comfortable being barefoot in the garden.\u00a0What is a surprise, though, is that she absolutely detests the \u201cFrozen Tundra\u201d weather of the north.<\/p>\n<p>Her first love of music (both vocal and instrumental) took center stage during her high school years.\u00a0She is a well decorated medalist in both the Saxophone, and Vocal categories.\u00a0However, to keep a sense of balance in her life, she participated in various athletic programs such as Cheerleading, Track (hurdles), and Volleyball.\u00a0Being a bit short, she was perfectly suited to be a setter for the high school team, where she played for four years.<\/p>\n<p>With the hopes that their daughter might marry a pastor, she was encouraged to attend Asbury College in Kentucky, a private Division III school located right across the street from Asbury Theological Seminary.\u00a0She quickly picked up in college where she left off in high school, as Lisa had no problems making the Intercollegiate Volleyball team and chose Music Education as her choice for a career.\u00a0What she didn\u2019t count on, perhaps, was the set of eyes that one man had laid on her while performing a Sax solo during a Final Exams Jazz Concert late one Autumn.<\/p>\n<p>Graduating from Asbury in 1985 with a BA degree in Music Education and a husband, she took on her first coaching responsibilities as the Head Coach of a high school Volleyball team in Florida.\u00a0Not feeling comfortable away from the \u201cFrozen Tundra\u201d, she and her husband moved to New York where she taught high school music in Amsterdam, NY.\u00a0In the meantime, she also picked up a certificate in CPR, Lifesaving and WSI (water safety instructor).\u00a0During the testing for her Lifesaving Certificate, she had to save her husband (who nearly drowned while being saved), and so she had to perform mouth \u2013to \u2013 mouth.\u00a0Quickly and immediately, he was revived thanks to her fantastic CPR and Lifesaving techniques.\u00a0She passed with flying colors!<\/p>\n<p>High school students seemed too tall of an order for her to have the impact she wanted to have with students, so she chose to teach elementary music instead.\u00a0She enjoyed this quite a bit until all of a sudden, there were three;
