\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\"Gold<\/a> It was a day made for SUCCESS!<\/strong>\u00a0 It was Warm, Sunny, just a picture perfect day to be… Inside Playing Dodgeball!<\/strong>\u00a0 It was the Kickoff event for the Empire State Corporate Challenge<\/strong>, which is in its inaugural year in 2016<\/strong>.\u00a0 In a day when Team Sports<\/strong> are considered Football, Basketball, and Baseball, it is DODGEBALL<\/strong> that set the stage for the launch of this New<\/strong> and Exciting<\/strong> event.\u00a0 In fact there is even a National Dodgeball Organization<\/strong> today, thanks to the growing popularity of this somewhat combative oriented sport.<\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 “We felt that Dodgeball was the best event to have as the lead-off event for the Empire State Corporate Challenge”<\/strong>, states Anthony Mills, Executive Director for the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong>, which produces the Corporate Challenge<\/strong>.\u00a0 He adds, “It embodies all three (3) Basic Motor Movement Skills (Running, Jumping, Throwing), but is, by far, one of the most Exciting and FUN events that any of us has ever played in our school days.”<\/strong>\u00a0 There is NO<\/strong> denying that, as each of the players we had a chance to watch, and speak with, showed NO<\/strong> signs of anything less, especially the BIG<\/strong> kids, or as we say when Athletes get into their advanced years, “Experienced Athletes”!<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There were three (3) Divisions<\/strong> contested, Open Men’s<\/strong>, Co-Ed<\/strong>, and Youth<\/strong>.\u00a0 There was strong competition from each of the attending Teams<\/strong>, as no one Team <\/strong>dominated the Round Robin<\/strong> portion of the Dodgeball Tournament<\/strong>.\u00a0 After a grueling day of Throwing, Dodging, and Catching, there emerged three (3) Gold Medal Winners<\/strong>, and in the Men’s Division<\/strong> it was Berkshire Hathaway Home Services<\/strong>, led by the President, Jason (Jay) Christiana.\u00a0 They were so good, that WNYT<\/strong> featured their Team <\/strong>on the Newscast at 6:00 pm Saturday evening<\/strong>. \u00a0“We Love what the Empire State Sports Council is doing this year with the Empire State Corporate Challenge, and all of its different events that will run from mid April to mid July”<\/strong>, said Jay.\u00a0 He continues, “It is a GREAT Team Building opportunity, and we WILL DEFINTELY be participating in more of these events.”<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In the Co-Ed Division Country Mills Eagles<\/strong> took 1st Place<\/strong> with their entire Team<\/strong> made up of Family<\/strong> (two (2) Brothers with their respective Sons, and a Mother\/Daughter duo).\u00a0 To add to their success, their younger Children<\/strong>, and even Grandchildren<\/strong>, took 1st Place<\/strong> in the Youth Girl’s Division<\/strong>.\u00a0 One of the glaring differences about the Empire State Corporate Challenge<\/strong>, from any other “corporate challenge”<\/strong> is that it IS<\/strong> about Family!<\/strong>\u00a0 “Corporations are NOT just about an Employee, but the Family that they are attached to at home”<\/strong>, noted Anthony Mills.\u00a0 “Moreover, we hope that businesses will quickly understand that their success in making lasting relationships with their Employees MUST include their Family!”<\/strong><\/p>\n
