{"id":2858,"date":"2016-04-18T13:11:40","date_gmt":"2016-04-18T17:11:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-games\/?p=2858"},"modified":"2016-04-18T13:13:55","modified_gmt":"2016-04-18T17:13:55","slug":"new-man-in-the-olympic-chair","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-games\/post\/new-man-in-the-olympic-chair\/","title":{"rendered":"NEW MAN in the OLYMPIC CHAIR!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-games\/files\/2016\/04\/jamie-verner.jpg\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-2850\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-medium wp-image-2850\" src=\"http:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-games\/files\/2016\/04\/jamie-verner-400x335.jpg\" alt=\"jamie verner\" width=\"400\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-games\/files\/2016\/04\/jamie-verner-400x335.jpg 400w, https:\/\/essportscouncil.org\/liberty-games\/files\/2016\/04\/jamie-verner.jpg 600w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 400px) 100vw, 400px\" \/><\/a>\u00a0 \u00a0 It is well known that <strong>EVERY<\/strong> Man has his <strong>&#8220;Favorite Chair&#8221;<\/strong>, especially for the sake of watching his favorite sporting events.\u00a0 It is one of the most difficult tasks to separate a <strong>Man<\/strong> from such a favorite chair.\u00a0 In fact, the best way to make the loss of the old chair a distant memory is to search for a <strong>New Chair<\/strong>, and place it in the house!<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0To some degree, the <strong>Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> did that when it realized that there was a need for a <strong>New Olympic Sports Chair<\/strong> for the <strong>2016 Liberty Games<\/strong>.\u00a0 They didn&#8217;t need to go very far to find such a <strong>Man<\/strong>, either, because he is a two <strong>(2) Gold Medalist<\/strong> at the <strong>Liberty Games<\/strong> in his weight class for <strong>Olympic Lifting<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Jamie T. Verner<\/strong> began weight training while serving in the <strong>United States Navy<\/strong>.\u00a0 He is a <strong>USA Weightlifting Certified Masters Level I<\/strong>, and <strong>Crossfit Level I<\/strong>, <strong>Coach,<\/strong> and is currently coaching both <strong>Weightlifters<\/strong> and <strong>Crossfit Members<\/strong> at <strong>Crossfit Beyond<\/strong> in the city of Albany. His passion for fitness has taken many forms both competitive and non-competitive over the years.\u00a0 Although Jamie began cycling in the early <strong>90\u2019s<\/strong> and was an active member of the <strong>Capitol Region Bike Racing Club<\/strong> for many years and participated in numerous local and regional bike races, he never lost his passion for the barbell.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0&#8220;<strong>There is NO Question about Jamie&#8217;s commitment to the Sport of Olympic Weight Lifting!&#8221;<\/strong>, confirmed Anthony Mills, Executive Director for the <strong>Empire State Sports Council<\/strong>, which produces the <strong>Liberty Games<\/strong>.\u00a0 He continues, <strong>&#8220;In order to be effective in our goals to make the Liberty Games the quality event it NEEDS to be, and to be able to draw more Athletes from around the Empire State, Jamie was the right choice to accomplish both.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0By discovering <strong>Crossfit<\/strong> in <strong>2010<\/strong>, a relatively new training system at the time that incorporates body weight movements, gymnastics and <strong>Olympic Weight Lifting<\/strong>, Jamie found his passion for the <strong>Iron Sports<\/strong> renewed.
