\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 On June 28th<\/strong>, 1976<\/strong>, a draft of the Declaration of Independence<\/strong> was presented to Congress<\/strong> by Thomas Jefferson<\/strong>, and subsequently adopted on July 4th<\/strong>, 1776<\/strong>, although the parchment upon which the final copy was written was not signed until August 2nd<\/strong>, 1776<\/strong>, of which there were 55 <\/strong>men that signed the Declaration of Independence<\/strong>.\u00a0 I am unsure as to whether any of these Men were Track & Field enthusiasts, but the ensuing war with the British featured a General of War named George Washington<\/strong>, who became the 1st President<\/strong> of these UNITED STATES!<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 In honor of the many battles that would take place over the next few years, several of which took place in the state of New York<\/strong>, the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> would like to dedicate this article to the Weapons of War<\/strong> that have become Olympic Implements<\/strong> to Throw<\/strong> for Sport<\/strong>.\u00a0 With pleasure, the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong> makes each of these available at each event!<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 There are some VERY <\/strong>interesting stories behind each of these modern day Throws<\/strong>, and every implement does originate from a Weapon of War!\u00a0 Some of them are rather intriguing, especially the Discus<\/strong>, which has been traced back to Indian Warriors.\u00a0 There was some extensive research done to track each of these down, and this article would become a Track & Field history book if it was assembled to post all at one time, so they will become separate texts for another time.\u00a0 Did you know that Henry VIII<\/strong> is said to have loved only one thing more than women?\u00a0 You guessed it…he loved Sports<\/strong>.\u00a0 Although Jousting<\/strong> was his favorite, he was known to throw the weights, and specifically the Hammer<\/strong>, Shot<\/strong>, and Javelin<\/strong>.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Unfortunately, we DO NOT<\/strong> have any Kings<\/strong> at the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong>, but we have provided for you a collection of the Men<\/strong> and Women <\/strong>that enjoy playing around with the Weapons of War!<\/strong> Below, we captured some of them that took part in the Independence Invitational <\/strong>.\u00a0 We hope you enjoy them, as much as we enjoyed being a part of the FUN<\/strong> and EXCITMENT<\/strong> on what was a beautiful evening for Track & Field!\u00a0 Just scroll down further to view the Thumbnails.\u00a0 Click the Thumbnail to view the entire photo with the caption.<\/p>\n \u00a0Just a quick note to let you know that the Country Mills Eagles<\/strong> won their second straight meet scoring 187 <\/strong>points. Chatham Gold<\/strong> took 2nd Place<\/strong> with 158 <\/strong>points, Averill Park<\/strong> finished in 3rd Place<\/strong> with 122<\/strong> points, and In A NY Minute<\/strong> took 4th Place<\/strong> with 61<\/strong> points.<\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Liberty Sports Gear<\/strong> has partnered with the Empire State Sports Council<\/strong> (ES Sports) and is offering more than $1,000<\/strong> in Gift Certificates<\/strong>, that can be used by the winning clubs for Equipment, Footwear, Team Uniforms, and more!\u00a0 The Liberty Tour Track & Field Series<\/strong> is comprised of six (6)<\/strong> events, and the Liberty Games <\/strong>is next up on Saturday, July 18th<\/strong>, and will begin at 10:00 am. <\/strong>Be sure your Track & Field club makes it to this final stage, so that your Team is in the best position to earn one (1)<\/strong> of four (4) Team Prizes<\/strong>.\u00a0 The top Prize<\/strong> is worth $500<\/strong> of Liberty Sports Gear!<\/strong><\/p>\n \u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 For all of the Results<\/strong> from the 2015 Independence Invitational<\/strong>, just click \u201cResults\u201d<\/strong> from the navigation bar for the Liberty Tour<\/strong>.\u00a0 We look forward to seeing everyone at the Liberty Games, for which many have already registered, <\/strong>at Ichabod Crane High School<\/strong> on Saturday, July 18th!<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\t\t
