Adirondack Junior Olympian

It was a perfect day to compete, as long as you were throwing the Discus or the Javelin. With winds gusting to 30mph, this was hardly the day to set any records on the Track, but it was ideal for Kayla Owens who took 2nd place in the Midget Girls Discus Throw with a toss of 13.91m. Moreover, she also placed 1st in the Midget Girls Shot with a put of 6.90m, and the 100m Dash with a time of 15.64 into a head wind. She will move forward to the Region 1 Junior Olympics in all three events. The Adirondack Junior Olympic Championships is the only qualifying meet for youth athletes in the Adirondack Association to advance to the Region 1 Junior Olym[pics, which will be held at Mitchell Field in Long Island at the end of June. To qualify, athletes must place in the top six (6) places in any event in order to move on to the Region 1 JO’s. Those that place in the top three (3) places at the Region 1 Meet will earn the right to compete at the National Junior Olympics at the end of July at Mount San Antonio College in Southern California.
