SHATTERED!
It is TRUE, that, “Records are Made to be Broken”! No one knows when or where it will happen, but it WILL, eventually, HAPPEN! For the Country Mills Eagles, there were Records set in the Javelin quite a bit, in most Age Divisions, but for some reason the Boy’s 15-16 Javelin Record has been held since 2003, when it was set at 39.60m by Anthony Mills (the Junior version)!
It does NOT come as too much of a surprise that his Record would eventually fall, since the Boy’s 13-14 Javelin Record was set by Jah-sir Boyd, last year (2024), replacing Anthony Mills (the Junior version)! What was SURPRISING, though, is that Jah-sir DID NOT just “Break” the Boy’s Javelin Record, he SHATTERED IT! What held for more than 20 years at 39.60m was OBLITERATED by a MONSTER THROW of 45.08m! This Performance also set the Patriot’s Invitational Record, breaking the previous Record of 43.63m by Jamie Cocca (Averill Park Road Runners) back in 2017. Jah-sir was just shy of the Liberty Tour Record (46.00m), which is also held by Jamie Cocca.
When asked how he felt about having his son’s Record broken, Coach Mills replied, “The measure of a Good Coach is to Train Athletes to Perform at their best, and one (1) of those Measuring Sticks is to set a New PR each year. The next Measuring Stick is more advanced, and that is to Set a Record! A Training System that can produce Athletes that Break the Previous Record is worth holding tight to!” He adds, “Every 15-16 year old tends to think they KNOW EVERYTHING, once they acquire a bit of Skill! Unfortunately, that becomes the Blinder that keeps them from getting to the next level! Jah-sir has been Training with the Country Mills Eagles since he was 8 years old. Together, we have had some EXCITING Performances!”
Jah-sir is, currently, Ranked #1 in NYS, and will take that to the New Balance Nationals, next week, in PA! CONGRATULATIONS to Jah-sir Boyd on an OUTSTANDING Performance! Now, WHO IS NEXT? 😊
