Eagles on the Hunt!
Since Eagles are “diurnal”, they hunt during the day, because they sleep at night. And, keep in mind, Eagles are “Apex Predators”, which means that they are at the Top of the Food Chain! 😊 When it comes to Track & Field, though, Eagles are “Hunting” for PR’s, Medals/Ribbons, and Records! At the President’s Open @ Ichabod Crane High School, they were NOT deterred from their nature!
To get right to the Hunting Form, these Eagles will have NO Problem killing their Food, as several of the Athletes set PR’s in their Javelin Throw, such as Alana Burden, who also set a new President’s Open Record for the Girl’s (17-18) Javelin with a heave of 32.65m, breaking the previous Record set by Amanda Pasko of 31.38m in 2013.
Some Families are just Good Hunters, and so Jah-sir Boyd (Alana’s Brother) took 1st Place in the Boy’s (13-14) Javelin with a toss of 18.95m, as well as 1st Place in the Long Jump (4.27m).
But it was the youngest Eagle of the Family, Jae-cion Boyd, who took a Clean Sweep of his three (3) Events, placing 1st in the Boy’s (9-10) 100m (15.03), 1st in the 400m (1:17.73), and 1st in the Long Jump with a leap of 4.05m.
Ryan Slingerland set a PR in the Boy’s (17-18) 800m with a time of 2:26.61, as well as a PR in the Javelin with a toss of 33.10m, which was good for 2nd Place, but not enough to overcome Tobias Jeralds, who took 1st Place. That noted, Ryan just started working on the Javelin Throw a month ago, and Tobias has been throwing since he was 12. There is LOTS of room for Ryan to improve before the end of the 2022 Track & Field Season, and 40m+ is in his sights!
In the Girl’s (15-16) 100m Dash, Berlinda Fleurimond took 1st Place (14.16), and did the same in the 200m (28.64). She is also the Lead Leg of the Girl’s 4 x 100m Relay, which set a Country Mills Eagles Record of 55.02.
The eldest Eagle, competing on this day, is Anthony Mills Jr., who set a President’s Open Record in the Men’s (30-34) Javelin with a throw of 50.60m, breaking the previous Record of 48.71m that he set back in 2018.
