Eagles Dodge the Ball, and Take Gold!

Gold Medalist (Co-Ed)    It is OFFICIAL… the Country Mills Eagles added organized Dodgeball to the list of various Athletic Teams! Starting with Track & Field in 2001, the Country Mills Eagles have added Cross Country, Weight Lifting, Flag Football, and now Dodgeball.  As part of the Empire State Corporate Challenge, which just launched in 2016, the Country Mills Eagles decided to participate in as many events as they could, and see where they finished.  The Empire State Corporate Challenge is the only Corporate Challenge of its kind in the entire Northeast, and incorporates several different competitions, such as Dodgeball, Mud Run, Basketball (3-on-3), Softball, Track & Field, 5k Road Race, and the Great Empire Walk.

“We have been looking to expand the number of sports we compete in each year, and the Empire State Corporate Challenge just opened the door for us to take the next step”, said Anthony Mills, Director of Athletics for the Country Mills Eagles Athletic Club.  He added, “The more options we can offer our Athletes, the more we can help to keep them Cross Training, and NOT get caught up into just one sport all year round.”

The Country Mills Eagles registered three (3) Teams for the Empire State Corporate Challenge, an Open Co-Ed Team, an Open Men’s Team, and a Youth Girl’s Team.  The Co-Ed Team took 1st Place earning the Gold Medal winning the best of three (3) in the Championship match up against the Carmen Road Mudducks (Fire Dept.).  Unfortunately, the Men’s Team had to settle for the Bronze Medal losing their 1st Round Match against Berkshire Hathaway, who went on to win the Gold in the Open Men’s Division.  The Youth Girl’s also took 1st Place earning the Gold Medal.

The next event for the Empire State Corporate Challenge will be the Mud Run, followed by Basketball (3-on-3), so for those of you that are interested in joining the Country Mills Eagles’ programs, or wish to compete in one of those events, please notify the Event Coordinator, Lisa, at ScreamingEagle@nycap.rr.com.
