Window of Opportunity!

    Constitution Classic 2015

      The 1st decade of the Empire State Liberty Tour Track & Series, saw Sunny and Warm weather conditions for just about every meet.  In fact, there were only two (2) meets that were ever altered (one cancelled, and one rescheduled) in that period of time.  In addition, there have been only two (2) meets with Rain Delays!  The original forecast for the 2015 Constitution Classic was a dismal one early in the week, and it didn’t change much, even right up to the time the 2nd stop of the Liberty Tour began.

     However, about 10 minutes prior to the start time of 2:00 pm, the rain came to a complete HALT! I would not say that the skies opened and the Sun came out to dry up all of the proverbial rain, but it certainly provided a Window of Opportunity for all of the competitors to take advantage of drier conditions, especially in the Throws, where “Water in the Ring” is NOT a  good thing!  Two (2) guys that took advantage of such an opportunity were a couple of Eagles that let the implements fly.  Battling head to head in the Open Men’s Division, although from the same Team, Lance Chase and Joe Castaldo (5th in the Shot Put at the 2013 New York State High School Championships) took 1st and 2nd respectively in the Shot Put!

     In addition, they also took the same positions in both the Discus and Hammer Throws, which was helpful in bringing the Country Mills Eagles into 2nd Place in the Liberty Tour Track & Field Team Standings with a total of 241 points, about 200 points back from 1st Place Chatham Gold with 478.5 points.  Liberty Sports Gear has partnered with the Empire State Sports Council (ES Sports) and is offering more than $1,000 in Gift Certificates, that can be used by the winning clubs for Equipment, Footwear, Team Uniforms, and more!  The Liberty Tour Track & Field Series is comprised of six (6) events, and the President’s Open is next up on Saturday, June 6th, with a 10:00 am start time.  Be sure your Track & Field club makes it to each Liberty Tour event, so that your Team is in the best position to earn one (1) of four (4) Team Prizes.  The top Prize is worth $500 of Liberty Sports Gear!
