Lady Patriots Stake Their Claim
In the days of the Revolutionary War, our break from the Tyranny of the English, it was always the Men that went off to battle, leaving their wives and children behind. If the man died in battle, his wife would raise their children and the family name would go on, and the Husband/Father would be remembered as a Hero. I certainly Do Not want to take anything away from the successes that such brave men had, nor the ultimate sacrifices that so many made in the name of FREEDOM, but at this Patriot’s Invitational, Women decided that it was their time to do battle (at least in competitive terms), as the women set more than half of the records on the day, edging out the men by two.
It was an absolutely perfect day for competition, as the backdrop of a beautiful blue sky paved the way for the sun that became the spotlight for some very strong record breaking performances. Not only did Jaimee Walters (Pictured Above), from the Country Mills Eagles, set a Patriot’s Invitational Record in the Young Women’s 100m Dash with a time of 13.86, but backed it up with a record in the 200m Dash (28.57).
There were Patriot’s Invitational Records set by several Men on the day, but this Patriot’s Invitational belonged to the Lady Patriots. So, although normally we would show you several of the photos of the various performances that were Record setting from both Men and Women, today it’s all about the Ladies! Just scroll down further to catch the thumbnails of just some of the Ladies that set Records on the day. Click the thumbnail to view the entire photo with the caption.
