Little Patriot, BIG Effort!
Patriot’s Invitational 2014
One of the exciting trademarks of the Empire State Liberty Tour Track & Field Series, is the fact that Athletes of all ages can compete! This provides opportunities for Young Athletes to mix it up with the more “Experienced” Athletes (that has a much better tone than “older” athletes). I did not have a chance to compete this day, but I did have the luxury of Officiating, and there was a little man that just overwhelmed me with his eager approach to each of his events on this day.
His name is Cameron Vining (Pictured Above), and he is a new member of the Chatham Gold Track & Field Club. The shear anticipation of getting on the runway for the Long Jump was only surpassed by the excitement of landing in the sand at the other end! It took a couple of tries in the Turbo Javelin, as his energy level was so overflowing, that he struggled to contain himself at the arc of the Javelin Vector. Nonetheless, he managed to get a Personal Record on the day!
With a bit of a wet start to the early part of the 2014 Patriot’s Invitational, it didn’t seem to keep any of these Young Athletes from putting forth their very best effort, and having a GREAT time in doing so! We quite often have taken these articles and used them as opportunities to showcase some Record Setting performances, but as a slight change up to that, we wanted to show the other side of the Liberty Tour Track & Field Series that gets past the competition, of which there was plenty at this Patriot’s Invitational. Instead, we wanted to focus on the Fun and Excitement part, that sometimes gets lost inside the Competition.
So, although normally we would show you several of the photos of the various performances that were Record setting from both Men and Women, today it’s all about the FUN!
