Max Of All Trades!
The President of the United States in considered by many to be the “Leader of the Free World”. In some circles, the President holds almost as much “power” as the Pope, and right in line to be the next to God after him. It would appear that perhaps the position is a bit over inflated, and at times intimidating, but it is without a doubt one of the most demanding responsibilities in the world. What is rather strange, though, is that quite often it is very difficult to determine the “strong suit” of any particular President.
The same could be said of those athletes that compete in the Combined Events in Track & Field. Max Comer (Country Mills Eagles) proves just this point, as he set a new President’s Open Record in the Youth Boy’s Pentathlon with 1,953 points. Is he a Max Of All Trades, but Master of None? Well, maybe…sort of… at least not yet. According to head Coach of the Country Mills Eagles, Anthony Mills, “The ultimate opportunity to help a coach determine the strengths of an athlete is to have them compete in the Combined Events.” He continues, “This allows them to Cross Train, and at the same time find what event may actually be their strength. If, or when, they choose to pursue that strength, they have developed a very solid base from which to build on that strength.”
On a day that saw four (4) Combined Event Records fall, we thought it would only be appropriate to highlight the performances of the athletes that are well known for multi-tasking. If you are the type that can walk and chew gum at the same time, you are well on your way to a future in the Combined Events…well, it takes a bit more skill and persistence than that, but you should certainly consider competing as one.
