SOUNDS LIKE A BROKEN RECORD!
For those that have graced this Planet, for a few years, will recognize the phrase, “Sounds Like A Broken Record”, which refers to a Record (once made on vinyl) that would have a “skip” in it, and play the same thing over and over!
The Liberty Tour is now in its 17th Season, and every Year there are MORE Records Broken, just when it seems as though someone set a Record that might Stand for some time!
This Patriot’s Invitational was NO Different! Check out this 1st Broken Record…
In the Youth Girls (13-14) Division, the previous Record in the 100m was held by Makyra Austin (Country Mills Eagles) with a time of 13.63. It was Broken by her Teammate, Taylor Maxwell (13.61), but that was beaten, in the same 100m Race, by Imani Pierce (Schenectady Superstars) who posted a time of 13.37!
But, Makyra moved up to the Jr. Girl’s Division, and ran a time of 13.03, in order to set the Patriot’s Invitational Record in the 100m for the 15-16 Girls, passing Kelley Abunaw’s time of 13.23 in 2015.
Kingston Shaw (Schenectady Superstars) set a New Record in the Boy’s Sub Bantam (7-8) Division with a time of 6:09.75, eclipsing the previous Record of 6:13.18 set in 2014 by Tyler Grossman.
In the Girl’s (11-12) Long Jump, the Record since 2009 was held by Nastasja Johnston (Averill Park Road Runners) with a distance of 4.67m. That Record was broken by Sydnie Becker (Chatham Gold) with a leap of 4.73m.
In the Youth Girl’s (13-14) 4x100m Relay, the Country Mills Eagles posted a Blistering time of 56.11 breaking the Record of 1:0058 set in 2012 by the Averill Park Road Runners.
A Record that went up in Flames was in the Master’s Men Javelin (40-44) Division, which was once held by Anthony Mills Sr.! That’s CORRECT, the Executive Director of the Empire State Sports Council! The Man that BURNED that Record Down was Evan Lasher with a toss of 41.82m, overcoming the previous Record of 38.07m. If I DO NOT make it to the Constitution Classic on Sunday, it is because I am still in MOURNING from the DEVASTATION!
