Batter Up…Softball Steps Up to the Plate

With the harsh Eastern New York Winter that we just survived, it is time to think Spring, that much is certain!  Okay, so you may not qualify less than a foot of snow all year as harsh, and if it wasn’t for the most recent snowfall, it is questionable whether there was enough snow this Winter to even take a measurement.  But the Liberty Games were created to host the Summer Games, not the Winter Games, so those eager to dust off the gloves and bats are very happy to see that the snow was limited this year.  For those that get the glorious task of clearing snow by hand, every Winter should like this.

It took about 30 days longer than originally expected, but the Empire State Sports Council is pleased to announce that Softball is ready to go for the 2012 Liberty Games!  You may now Register your Softball team online by going to our website designed just for the games at:In fact, if you Register your team early (prior to May 31st) you can save $50 off the Registration price.  Some teams couldn’t wait, and have already reserved their spot at the Liberty Games!

Because the Liberty Games are built around the concept of T-E-A-M (Together Everyone Achieves More), we would like to make a spot in each of the articles written, that will announce the arrival of each Sport, to impress upon you the importance of each of the individual Sport’s Chairs, as they are critical in the effort to Bring Back the Games!  The first batter to step up to the plate is Pat Blum, the Sport’s Chair for Softball; (just “click” on Pat’s name and that will link you to his Bio).  When asked about his thoughts of the New State Games being rebranded as the Liberty Games, Pat said, “With the new Liberty Games I believe you will see a format that has brought a more modernized look at what sports has become; a World Wide interest of all age levels in sports, not just the older age divisions, but what the youth divisions in sports has meant on a national level.  It provides a competitive environment, a social bonding, skill development and advancement, and perhaps even an escape for everyday people to become an athlete.”

The Empire State Sports Council is very pleased to have Pat on our TEAM, and we hope you will enjoy meeting each of the Sport’s Chairs over the coming few weeks, as the Registration information is uploaded for each of the sports.  “I am very happy to see Softball step up to the plate, if you will, as we feel it is one of the key components to having a successful Liberty Games competition”, said Executive Director Anthony Mills.  He continues, “Let’s Play Ball!”

We took the Executive Director’s words seriously, and so we are offering the following promotion.  Be one of the first to purchase the Official Liberty Games Sportswear, as the Empire State Sports Council will hold a drawing of the first 100 Athletes, in each sport, that purchase Liberty Games Sportswear, and the selected Athlete will receive a Gift Card to a local restaurant for $10!  Moreover, the winners from each sport will be placed into a larger drawing, which will be made at the Opening Ceremonies of the Liberty Games, and the winner will receive a Free Apple iPod.  The runner-up will receive a $50 Gift Certificate from Dick’s Sporting Goods.  Don’t wait, be one of the first 100 Athletes in your sport to purchase Official Liberty Games Sportswear, and you can be a winner, right off the bat!

In the meantime, be sure to Like Us on Facebook, as we look forward to making so many new friends.  If you are in a position to do so, we would certainly appreciate your support of the 2012 Liberty Games.  Please take just a minute right now to click the Donate Now button and make a contribution of any amount, the Empire State Sports Council would greatly appreciate it!
